Jo Hellier is a Bristol based contemporary artist working with performance, installation, film and sound. She makes considered works for different public spaces, experimenting with form and narrative structure to create exchanges both personal and expansive.
Jo’s work reflects in detail a world that is intimately connected. It is in this vast landscape that she picks out delicate living structures and systems and explores how they hold us in place. She presents carefully designed spaces, which enable audiences to engage with their environments in new ways.
Jo graduated from Dartington College of Arts in 2010 and has since worked in Mexico, Norway, Portugal and across the UK. Her work has developed over the last four years and within this transitional period she has tried out many different forms, starting from a practice of physical contemporary theatre and expanding to include visual art and installation. Currently her work is examining the existing ecologies of her surroundings and their social implications.
